Jethro Tulls Live-Album von 1978, neu aufgelegt als 3CD/3DVD-Boxset, remixt von Steven Wilson

Bursting Out, Jethro Tulls erstes Live-Album, wurde an verschiedenen Orten während der European Heavy Horses-Tour im Mai und Juni 1978 aufgenommen. Jetzt wird das Album im erweiterten 3CD/3DVD-Format neu aufgelegt und von Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) neu abgemischt und mit Extras versehen.

CD 3: Enthält eine bearbeitete Version der Madison Square Garden Show von 1978, die 2009 erschien, jetzt aber von Steven Wilson gemischt wurde.

Die DVDs 1 und 2 enthalten die remixten Titel in 96/24-Stereo und 5.1-Surround sowie die Flat-Transfers des Originalalbums in 96/24-Stereo.

DVD 3 enthält die komplette 93-minütige MSG-Show, einschließlich mehr als 50 Minuten Video, das Teil einer transatlantischen Sendung mit der BBC und Radio 1 war. Der Ton ist 48/24 Stereo und 5.1 Surround.

Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson said:

„A live extravaganza from the 70s Jethro Tull, this was recorded over several nights in different venues on a portable 8-track tape recorder and transferred to 2” multitrack when I got home after the tours.  I had to listen all through to many shows and pick the best live versions. But much of it was, at least, from the concert in Bern, Switzerland, where dear Claude Nobs came to introduce the band in his inimitable style. Also featuring on this box set collection is the live concert from Madison Square Gardens recorded a few months later and shown live on BBC TV in the UK. A scary experience for the band as it was, we were told, the first time a live rock concert had been the subject of a live satellite broadcast. 

The band lineup at this time was a fine-tuned machine and, although missing the unwell John Glascock for the MSG show, it serves as a fine testimony for the many wonderful shows we did in the 70s before general touring fatigue and burn-out began a year or so later.

Als es 1990 zum ersten Mal auf CD neu aufgelegt wurde, war „Bursting Out“ im Vereinigten Königreich und im restlichen Europa als Doppel-CD erhältlich, in den Vereinigten Staaten jedoch als Einzel-CD-Veröffentlichung. Drei Titel („Quatrain“, „ „Sweet Dream“ und „Conundrum“) wurden weggelassen, um der 80-minütigen CD-Länge zu entsprechen.

Im Jahr 2004 wurde das komplette Album weltweit als Doppel-CD-Set mit den „Introductions“ als separate Titel veröffentlicht.
